THE PROPOSAL - The Groom's Perspective

I have to say, I had no idea how a man usually proposes to a woman, so I just did it in a way I thought fitted us.

I first snuck away to Dallas to ask for Mr. and Mrs. Roberson's blessing. They, along with Bonnie's Grandfather, offered to help me find a ring. That was a tremendous help. Over the Thanksgiving weekend Mr. Roberson handed the ring off to me without Bonnie seeing. From then on the ring was burning a hole in my pocket and I just wanted to do it.

We watched the UT vs. A&M game over at Rachel's house that day and played some video games. I told Bonnie that I wanted to take a look at the houses around White Rock Lake, which isn't that odd for us.

On the way there we went to a 7-11 to grab a snack. I guess I blew my cover when instead of buying my usual beef jerky I bought Tic-Tacs and a Willie Nelson Christmas CD.

We drove around the lake and then I suggested we walk out on the dock and look at the boats. On our walk out Bonnie asked for my jacket because it was rather chilly. I had to say no because that was where the ring was. A few moments later I went down on one knee and popped the question.

She looked really happy and we hugged but I still didn't have an official yes.

A few minutes later Bonnie said "Oh, wait! Did I say yes?

Yes!"
